Fattoria Poggio Capponi
Fattoria Poggio Capponi is a historic Tuscan winery located in the Chianti area near Florence, where a unique combination of rolling hills, a favorable microclimate, and limestone-clay soils creates ideal conditions for cultivating premium-quality grapes. The estate's vineyards extend across dozens of hectares and are planted primarily with Sangiovese, the cornerstone of Tuscan winemaking, complemented by international varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, which contribute structure and complexity to selected blends.
The grapes are harvested by hand, with meticulous selection of only the finest clusters. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and the varietal aromatic profile. Selected wines are then matured in oak barrels, where they develop greater complexity, refined tannins, and elegant notes of spice, vanilla, and dried fruit.
The winery produces both classic Chianti DOCG wines, characterized by vibrant red fruit, lively acidity, and subtle earthy nuances, as well as more structured, age-worthy expressions that showcase greater depth and elegance. In addition to its red wines, the estate also crafts rosé wines and limited-edition releases, experimenting with distinctive blends and maturation techniques.
Fattoria Poggio Capponi is dedicated to combining the rich heritage of Tuscan winemaking with modern precision, creating wines that express a harmonious balance of fruit, structure, and authentic terroir.
